Safer communities, healthier lives

About us

About us

We are a leading charity providing free treatment and support to vulnerable people facing addiction, homelessness and domestic abuse. We support around 120,000 people across 160 locations each year, of which 68,000 receive structured treatment programmes.

We feel incredibly privileged to do the job that we do. We’ve been serving communities since 1880, continuously innovating and evolving our services to reflect changes in evidence, best practice, and of course the needs of our service users. Every day we are humbled and inspired by the thousands of service users who prove time and again that recovery is not only possible – it is transforming communities across England and Wales.

Our goal is to provide the best possible care to our service users, supporting them to lead healthier, happier lives. It’s why we value our relationships with partners so highly, because it’s only when we work together that we can make sure our service users get the right care from the right people. And underpinning our friendly, personalised services are sector-leading safeguarding and governance procedures that place safety and quality at the heart of what we do.

Today, we have over 3,000 employees who reflect the very best in clinical and care excellence, and who take huge pride in their work. Looking forward, our goal is to use the latest technology to deliver our services in the community in the most cost-effective way possible, combining expertise, smart solutions and, of course, passion.
