The Drug Intervention Programme aims to increase the numbers of drug-using offenders engaging in effective treatment, thereby improving the quality of life of the client, their families and protecting communities by reducing crime. K&C DIP provides Arrest Referral, Court based services, Case Management and Assertive Outreach services to substance misusers identified through pro-active contact with a range of community and criminal justice agencies throughout the borough. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the case management and assertive outreach functions of the programme, providing assessment and care planned interventions to substance misusing offenders. The post holder will be required a range of DIP clients including prison leavers, PPO’s and clients under ROB conditions and engage in assertive outreach activity where clients have disengaged. Targeted services will engage with the most difficult to engage and under represented groups committing disproportionate levels of crime to feed an entrenched addiction to class ‘A’ drugs. CRI in partnership with Brent DAAT are seeking to recruit an experienced and knowledgeable person to a join a team of drug workers worked from our service in Brent. The Project provides a range of services including: community engagement, harm minimisation and other structured interventions to substance mis-users in Brent. A particular focus for the project is to work with ‘hard to reach’ groups (e.g. crack users and women) who are typically underrepresented in treatment services. The primary objective of the project is to support the partnership to increase the numbers of PDU’s and other adults engaging in effective treatment. A robust assessment and care planning system ensures that the project is able to provide co-ordinated, responsive and needs led services to clients that maximise the chances of achieving positive change and sustainable outcomes for clients and the wider community. A range of low threshold treatment packages are provided in both 1-1 and group settings, working with clients to reduce the risk of substance use and associated life style behaviours by providing harm reduction advice and information. The project is also tasked with the provision of satellite in a range of Tier 1, 2 and 3 agencies. In partnership with community safety, assertive street outreach initiatives engages with people involved in street activity and causing substance related crime, disorder and social nuisance. DIP Worker

CRI are delighted to have been commissioned to deliver an exciting service in the County of Surrey. The Drug Interventions Programme aims to increase the number of drug-using offenders entering and successfully completing treatment, reduce drug-related crime and improve the quality of life of offenders, their families and communities. The Surrey DIP Team provides arrest referral, case management and assertive outreach services to substance misusers referred by staff working in Police Custody, Prisons, Probation and treatment services.

CRI are seeking to recruit a DIP worker to work across Surrey and from a range of sites. Duties will include assertive outreach in the community providing Arrest Referral and Throughcare and Aftercare services. You will be required to offer advice on drugs and alcohol and other health and welfare issues for DIP clients. You will bring a motivational approach and an ability to devise and develop care plans to meet identified client needs whilst ensuring appropriate links and joint working is carried out with all partner agencies.

The service will operate a staff rota that will include evening and weekend duties.

You will be required to record and input client data using IT packages to a high standard in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.
You will be required to work flexibly across operational sites as required and work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may include some evening and weekend working.
You will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrable knowledge of Blood borne viruses and will possess the ability to work confidently with other agencies and professionals, as well as the enthusiasm to drive forward the service and contribute to the development of the team. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with a case-load of people who have a variety of needs.
The service offers support to those are using illicit substances as well as alcohol, and those with experience of supporting people with either or both are encouraged to apply.

The post-holder will contribute to the service to ensure that substance users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards. You will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. You will be required to record and input client data using IT packages to a high standard in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.

Practical experience of managing a case-load will be useful as well as a working knowledge of brief interventions eg motivational interviewing.
You will be required to work flexibly across operational sites as required and work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may include some evening and weekend working.

You will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.
The outcomes for the service include increasing numbers of drug misusers into effective treatment. Reducing drug and alcohol use. Reducing re-offending.
