2013-02-21 CRI Fundraising Appeal for Reading Half Marathon
A small team representing CRI Reading is running in the Reading Half Marathon on 17 March 2013 to raise money for a special event for service users.
Their sponsorship money will be used to fund a confidence and self-esteem building trip for service users who are striving for recovery.
Staff also hope to inspire others to get active to increase the numbers running next year.
Katy Greenslade, Senior Floating Support Worker at CRI Reading, is one of the runners: “There is a close relationship between low self-esteem and addiction. Individuals who struggle with self-confidence find it hard to achieve happiness away from their addictions. So building a person’s self-esteem and confidence can help them escape from self-destructive behaviour and build a good life in recovery.”
In addition to appealing for sponsorship, CRI Reading is also asking supporters to come along to the finish line at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading on 17 March, and various points along the route, to cheer on the CRI runners.
