Who we are

CARAT Team aims to identify all offenders coming into HMP Ford who have problems with substance use, supporting individuals to abstain from or reduce their drug taking with the aim of reducing the harm caused to individuals and to society as a whole.

The service offers psychosocial interventions working closely with other key teams within the prison to provide a holistic approach to support planning.

The service offers psychosocial interventions working closely with other key teams within the prison to provide a holistic approach to support planning.

Interventions offered are 1-2-1 key work meetings and group work sessions, covering topics such as: drug and alcohol awareness, relapse prevention, harm minimisation including overdose aid and blood borne virus’s information, healthy living skills and relaxation techniques.

What we do

The purposes of interventions are:

• Support and encourage service users to increase awareness of the effect of drug use.
• To reduce the risk of harm to self and others
• Identify potential change
• Identify high risk situations and developed coping strategies
• Improve physical and mental well being
• Motivate, engage and retain clients in treatment

The CARAT team offers a comprehensive through care package working closely with Drug Intervention Programs enabling good continuity of care.
