The Cedars

Who we are

The Cedars is a purpose built supported housing project in Canterbury offering accommodation to those aged 18-65 who may have completed primary treatment or be fully engaged with appropriate substance misuse agencies.

What we do

The Cedars aims to provide a range of interventions that will reduce the likelihood of relapse; enhance social skills and sense of self-worth; and focus on developing independent living skills, further supported by the seven self-contained one-bed flats at the project. We actively encourage meaningful use of time through engagement in voluntary work, educations, training and community involvement.

The emphasis is on helping individuals to develop the skills necessary to manage their lives without the use of illegal substances and/or alcohol so that they can return to independent living and employment.

Our team is made up of experienced project workers who support individuals in maintaining abstinence and working toward independent living.

We offer:

  • an independent living plan
  • support planning
  • the international treatment effectiveness project (ITEP)
  • group work promoting independent living skills and relapse prevention
  • multi-agency working and support
  • support in finding voluntary work, education, training or employment
  • We expect:

    • full engagement with the support offered
    • motivation and commitment to make changes and returning to independent living
