Swindon Treatment And Recovery Service (STARS)

In April 2013 CRI commenced delivery of the Swindon Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS). This new service provides a high-quality, accessible and integrated approach to drug treatment, recovery and reintegration. Service provision encompasses criminal justice clients and those referred through the assessment gateway.

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Qualified Nurse to the Early Recovery Team within STARS. STARS provides a range of harm minimisation and clinical interventions including prescribing and other structured treatment to substance mis-user; particularly for those deemed ‘hard to reach’. The post holder will be directed by the Early Recovery Team Leader.

The overarching objective is to holistically support adult service users to enter and move through this integrated recovery oriented substance misuse service and increase opportunities for service users to achieve sustainable treatment outcomes.

The post holder will work to deliver an integrated substance misuse service, working closely with clinicians and a multi-disciplined staff team. The post holder will contribute to the provision of prescribing services across Swindon This will include service user assessment, titration and ongoing contribution to recovery planning.

The post holder will be a Band 6 Nurse with current NMC registration and will be responsible for ensuring that substance users receive consistently high quality services that adhere to best practice guidelines and high professional standards.

The post holder will provide support within GP practices and Shared Care services within the community of Swindon, in addition to supporting service users’ prescribing needs and detoxification requirements across operational sites.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across operational sites as required and work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.

This will include evening working. The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.
