London Gurkha Settlement Service

Who we are

CRI are supporting Gurkhas and their families across London through a unique service to aid integration and capacity building across the communities. The service has been funded by the Gurkha Integration Fund (GIF).

The CRI Gurkha Settlement Service is commissioned to work with existing Gurkha groups to support them to build their capacity and engage with local and national resources. Other areas of work include creating networks of volunteers to support Gurkha families to engage with community services including statutory and voluntary provisions; volunteers are recruited from Gurkha communities as well as other community groups in the participating boroughs.

The service is also in place to support Gurkha parents/carers to increase their awareness of drug and alcohol issues in turn increasing the opportunity for young people (18-24years) from the Gurkha communities to access recovery services.

All of the above work is underpinned by supporting Gurkha families to increase their confidence and skills in English language through engagement in, and use of, ESOL programmes.
