Volunteer: Academy specific

Inspire, Burnley

Volunteer: Academy specific
Managed and supported by: Volunteer coordinator
Purpose: to support service users and staff members and to provide a “selfless presence” within the Inspired academy from an asset based approach
Role Description:

1. To assist with the day to day running of the inspired academy duties such as, filing, photocopying, record keeping etc.

2. To be part of a rota system to meet and greet people accessing the Academy

3. To manage the day to day health and safety requirements of the building including ensuring all areas are secure, kitchen checks are completed etc


4. To assist service users in removing barriers to accessing services such as child care, work and education and sign posting them to relevant agencies for information and guidance.

5. To enquire about previous work or educational experiences which can then be built upon, referring them to Work Solutions or helping the service users to achieve individual goals.

6. To ensure service users identify social or recreational activities that can provide an opportunity for pleasure, skill development and relaxation.

7. To assist with the organisation(and possibly facilitating) of educational courses, events and transportation.

8. To actively promote support groups both internally and in the wider community.

9. To uphold and reinforce the inspired academy mission statement.

10. To support service users in whatever stage of rehabilitation they are at.

11. To promote healthier lifestyles and support to engage in other activities to build on their recovery capital

12. To work with the Academy Coordinator and BRIC coordinator to assertively link academy users with their local communities

13. To support those who have achieved abstinence continue with their lives.
