Hours: 4 hrs per week
The Specialist Offender Mentoring Service is a 12 month, central government funded programme designed to match volunteer mentors with Central and Eastern European migrants involved in the criminal justice system in West Yorkshire.
The programme is aimed at offenders with multiple and complex needs, defined as repeat offending, substance misuse, mental ill health and homelessness.
Mentors will be drawn from a variety of backgrounds and will deliver a range of interventions designed to desist offending, ranging from basic interpreting to coaching for those seeking employment. It is desirable for mentors to speak a relevant language but applications are welcomed from all with relevant knowledge and skills to offer the programme.
Volunteering with CRI is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a diverse client group, improve personal development and make a contribution to local community.
Mentors will be offered training equivalent to 1-2 GCSEs and accredited by Open College Network (OCN), comprehensive supervision and support, as well as the opportunity to work with partner agencies taking part in this innovative and exciting new project.
