Abstinence Structured Day Programme (SDP) and Throughcare & Aftercare Service

Who we are

The CRI Abstinence Structured Day Programme (SDP) and Throughcare & Aftercare Service provide a range of interventions to meet the needs of individuals at various stages of their recovery from substance misuse. The service works in partnership with other treatment providers within the borough to contribute towards the Hammersmith & Fulham Drug Strategy.

What we do

The Abstinence day programme is a structured 12 week group therapy programme aimed at encouraging you to explore your substance dependency issues and develop strategies to address and manage your behaviour. To be suitable for the programme you must:

  • have achieved abstinence from substances;
  • be 18 years or older;
  • be committed to your recovery and;
  • be motivated to get the most from your treatment by engaging with other treatment services if required.

Alongside a diverse range of group sessions based on CBT, ITEP mapping and MI you will receive one-to-one support from your allocated key worker to help you explore any issues uncovered through group work sessions. Additionally, you can access complementary therapies (including acupuncture, drama and art therapy), advice on Education, Training and Employment (ETE), counselling and peer-led support.

 The Throughcare & Aftercare Service offers on-going support to those primarily in the later stages of their recovery through a combination of one-to-one sessions and group therapy. However, the service will also work with those individuals who need assistance in coordinating their treatment journey and will actively work with other treatment providers to ensure you identify and develop a treatment plan that will allow you to achieve your personal goals.

The level of support required will depend on your assessed level of need and you can access those services you feel appropriate (including complimentary therapies and counselling). You do not need to be abstinent to engage with the Throughcare service and the team can arrange to meet with you at the service you are currently engaged with. You must be abstinent from substances to access the Aftercare Service.

Next steps

Individuals can self-refer at any time by contacting the service directly; alternatively you can speak to other treatment providers to request a referral is made. Referrals may be received via GPs, Nurses/Health Workers, the Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) team, Probation, Job Centre Advisors, Hostel key workers or Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT).

Once a referral is received, the team will make contact to arrange an appointment for an assessment (within 3 days) to determine treatment needs and explore a package of interventions to support recovery. Assessments for the Abstinence SDP and Aftercare Service are held at the service at Munster Road (please note that alcohol and drugs are not permitted on site).
