St Thomas Fund: Stage 1

Who we are

The St Thomas Fund is a residential substance misuse rehabilitation project. Our aim is to support people in managing their lives without illicit drugs and alcohol through a group work programme and one to one support. In undertaking the programme residents will attempt to bring positive change to their lives.

The St Thomas Fund residential substance misuse rehabilitation service provides support to people who have experienced drug or alcohol misuse. Service users should have a history of rough sleeping and drug related offending. We have expanded our remit to work with service users who experience complex mental and physical health needs alongside their substance misuse issues.

The service operates over three houses, the first stage has seven places and is staffed 24 hours per day. This house offers support with opiate and benzodiazepine detoxification. Alcohol detoxification takes place via the local in-patient facility. Service users are at various stages of the detoxification process. Residents participate in a group work programme and also receive one to one support. They are encouraged to share their thoughts which have led to problems of substance misuse.

The second stage operates over two houses with 14 places in total and runs parallel programmes. These include workshops and assignments focussing on relapse prevention, anger management and social interaction and integration skills. Towards the end of the programme training and education opportunities will be explored alongside move on accommodation options.
