David Biddle, Chief Executive

David was appointed Chief Executive in October 2013 when David Royce stepped down. He has been with CRI since 1996 and has been the charity’s Deputy Chief Executive since 2006, supporting the charity’s growth from an income of £4 million in 2002 to over £100 million last year.

In his tenure as Deputy Chief Executive, David has been instrumental in identifying opportunities for CRI to grow. He is now responsible for implementing the charity’s overall strategic direction, and ensuring CRI continues to deliver high quality, evidence-based services to the 53,500 people it works with every day.

David has extensive experience of both the probation and voluntary sectors, having previously worked for one of the four SARO charities which merged to form CRI in 2001. He qualified as a Probation Officer in 1980, has a Masters Degree in Public Service Administration and has substantial frontline experience working with offenders and the wider community. This experience has given him an in-depth understanding of the practicalities of service delivery, and a crucial insight into the lives of the people we support.

In 2009 David was awarded an MBE for services to disadvantaged people.
