Associate Members

Associate Members provide professional or expert advice in a voluntary capacity to the Board of Trustees, management team and staff.

Associate Members may attend conferences, project launches and other functions where they will meet staff and service users. They may also use their professional skills to advise and support staff, informally, or by providing training or consultancy.

Associate Members also have a specific corporate governance role at the annual general meeting, where they are required to vote on Board appointments and assess Board performance.

Brian Higgins JP is an engineer, business management advisor, magistrate, Chairman of Southern Horizon Housing Ltd., Horizon Housing Group board member, and a Governor of Park College.

Dr Christina Schwabenland is a senior lecturer at the London Metropolitan University.

Pravin Kapadia is a management accountant. He has a background in industry, local government and working with voluntary organisations. He is also a trustee and board member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Ernie Poku is an engineer with a background in international business and has been Secretary of the Sainsbury Management Fellows' Society.

Kevin Smyth (Hon. Solicitor) is a senior partner in a long-established Brighton-based solicitors practice, a practising and registered CEDR accredited Commercial Mediator and Chairman of Governors of Worth School.

Patricia Wyatt is a lawyer with several years’ experience working for Justice, the group which pursued miscarriages of justice cases.

David Tredrea is a member of the British Association of behavioural and cognitive psychotherapies. He has extensive international experience of front line disaster work and is a specialist in crisis and mental health management. David is an Independent Custody Visitor in Westminster.

Adrian Gains is a management consultant. He has over twenty years experience of delivering tranformational programmes in the public sector.  He has worked with a large number of central government departments and currently heads up work with law enforcement agencies. he also leads a Giving Back and Volunteering initiative.

Maria Thomas is development manager for Working Links Wales. She has extensive knowledge of employability programmes and is committed to Welfare to Work programmes in Wales.

Tony Evans is a freelance management organisational development consultant. Tony's particular expertise is Risk Management covering area such as Health and Safety, Environment, Quality and ICT.
