Health and social care and criminal justice charity CRI has launched a new service to reduce reoffending in Greenwich, London on the 1st April 2014. Working in partnership with Sova, well known for its expertise in utilising volunteers for mentorship programmes, the new service will offer a combined service of both volunteers and professional case workers to support people on their path to recovery.
The new service is the first commissioned partnership between CRI and Sova in the UK and will offer an integrated end-to-end support service. It will have enhanced pathways to engage service users and move them into treatment away from drug and alcohol use and crime. It was commissioned to provide high quality, skilled and focused interventions to a cohort of 200 people. Sova volunteer mentors are able to offer additional 1-2-1 motivation and practical advice to encourage and empower service users on their journey.
CRI have been providing the service to the borough of Greenwich since 2011 and has now successfully won the tender to continue delivering the service for the next two to three years.

Sophie Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Sova said: “The challenges that offenders face when trying to rebuild their lives can be extremely difficult to overcome, which is why one of the main areas of support that Sova offers is mentoring to get them back on the right path.
