Waveney MP Visits Lowestoft Drug Service

Peter Aldous MP has visited CRIs substance misuse recovery centre in Lowestoft to find out about its wide range of treatment services.

The Lowestoft Substance Misuse Recovery Service opened in April 2011 and provides confidential advice, information and treatment for drug and alcohol use. Services include access to health education and medical treatment, prescribing, screening for blood borne viruses, referral into residential rehabilitation and psychosocial interventions. Parents and carers can also come to the centre for advice and guidance.

Mr Aldous said: "It was a pleasure to visit the Lowestoft Substance Misuse Recovery Service and meet with the staff who provide such valuable help. The individual attention that they provide to their clients and the enthusiasm with which they go about their work, often in difficult circumstances, were readily apparent."

Vicki Markiewicz, CRI Deputy Director, said: "The Lowestoft substance misuse service provides individual treatment plans that help people recover from drug and alcohol dependence. Our aim is to support people to achieve their recovery goals which typically include overcoming addiction, getting back into training, education or employment and finding somewhere to live."

The Lowestoft Recovery Service is commissioned by Suffolk Drug and Alcohol Action Team and is delivered in association with local charity Open Roads.

CRI also runs recovery centres in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.
