July saw the arrival of the newly commissioned Inspire North Lancashire project. The service commissioned by Lancashire County Council and NHS England provides a fully integrated recovery service with rapid and open access to drug and alcohol users.
North Lancashire service operates in both community and custodial settings; Fleetwood, Morecombe, St Anne’s, Lancaster HMP Kirkham and HMYOI Lancaster Farms.
Nicola Guthrie, implementation manager for CRI North Lancashire said: “We’re delighted to have been asked to extend our services to another part of Lancashire. It’s a large county, with distinct communities, a mix of rural and urban areas and lots of challenges in terms of transportation and access. We have tackled these challenges head on in East Lancashire to transform drug and alcohol recovery services and look forward to having a similar impact here.”
Lucy Harrison, deputy director for CRI commented: “While a new service across North Lancashire is an exciting opportunity for CRI to work to offer a different model of service, it might be a worrying time for people already in local drug or alcohol services. We are already working to communicate with people already in treatment to make sure the change in provision does not affect their individual recovery, and we really look forward to building on this innovative new model with the service users and communities across North Lancashire”
“CRI has proven itself to offer innovative services to those struggling with drug or alcohol use,” said Tom Woodcock Head of Commissioning, Substance Misuse and Partnership “It’s great to have them on board to work with us and improve the results of treatment for local people.”
