CRI's response to
DCLG report "Listening to
Troubled Families"

CRI welcomes the findings of Louise Casey's 'Listening to Troubled Families' report commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government. It is a positive move for the report to push for social care and other services which help troubled families to adopt a more holistic approach in their interventions.

CRI has long argued that interventions destined to fix single issues such as substance misuse or antisocial behaviour can be limited in their effectiveness. That is why CRI advocates an integrated approach to tackling the issues that can adversely affect the families about which the report is concerned. We promote this approach for all our work. It is one that has proved extremely successful and has enabled thousands of troubled people to turn their lives around on a daily basis.

The fact that this important report advocates something similar to CRI's holistic approach to tackling complex and intertwined issues will hopefully mean hope and more positive futures for the most troubled families across the country.
