Report Tackles Drug Problems in Brighton and Hove

2013-02-14 News

An Independent Drugs Commission in Brighton & Hove has published a draft report recommending a number of measures to tackle drug problems in the city.

The independent commission was set up in May 2012 in response to a proposal by Caroline Lucas MP to review and improve the city’s approach to drug issues.

The commission’s interim report, published this month, includes a number of ideas to reduce the harm caused to individuals and the community by drug use. Residents have now been asked to comment on the report’s recommendations.

Mike Pattison, Director, CRI, said: “CRI welcomes the publication of this draft report reviewing approaches to enforcement, treatment, prevention and recovery in the city. CRI participated at various stages of the enquiry and we believe the review and discussions have been invaluable in generating a genuine debate about the approaches taken, the challenges faced and the opportunities to improve the delivery of drug and alcohol services in the city.”

The report’s preliminary recommendations can be viewed here
