Safer communities, healthier lives

CRI wins contract to deliver substance misuse services across Halton

Friday 5th February, 2016

From 1st April 2016 CRI will continue to offer substance misuse treatment and support to local residents within the Borough of Halton.

Following a competitive and thorough tendering process by Halton Borough Council, CRI has been awarded a contract to provide an integrated community substance misuse service for the next five years in Halton.

CRI will provide a fully integrated drug and alcohol service, which includes both clinical and social support, health screening, harm reduction programmes including needle exchange services and vaccinations, mutual aid support groups, community detoxification, alternative prescribing, group work and a wide range of recovery focused activities.

Eileen O’Meara, Director of Public Health for Halton said:

Reducing the harm caused by drugs and alcohol is a big priority for the Council and all of its partners. I am really pleased to announce that CRI have been awarded a contract for five years and look forward to working with them to build truly effective services for local people.

Overcoming addiction is a difficult process and requires the hard work and support of a lot of people. I am excited to continue to work with an organisation that puts the needs of the individual first and also recognizes the role of family, friends and other professionals in supporting individuals on their journey from drug or alcohol misuse to recovery.”

Jeanette Collins, CRI Service Manager, said:

“The team and I are pleased with the outcome of the tender. Over the past three years we have helped over 1,270 local residents make positive steps into recovery from substance misuse, and we can’t wait to continue our work with our partner organisations to support those who are in need of our help to achieve their own recovery and to make healthier lifestyle choices.

The new contract will begin in April 2016, with services operated from Aston Dane in Widnes, The High Street, Runcorn and a variety of community based clinics and venues.
