CRI and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have launched two new clinics in Brighton and Hove to support people addicted to legal highs.
The clinics provide drop-in advice and information for people who are worried about the potential dangers of legal highs, also known as novel psychoactive substances (NPS).
Michael Lawrence, CRI’s NPS specialist, said: “The clinics have been opened to meet a growing need in the city for advice about these substances, which have become increasingly popular on the club scene. People think that because these chemicals are legal, and can be bought openly, they must be safe, but that isn’t the case. Legal highs can have dangerous side effects and can even cause death.”
CRI hopes that people will visit the clinics to find out more about these new substances so they can be fully informed of the likely dangers and consequences should they decide to take them.
