CRI launches new 17>25 Young Adults Service in Greenwich

Tuesday 28th July, 2015

From 3 August 2015, young adults living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich will be able to access a new support service run by CRI. Called 17>25, the service is being launched in response to national and local evidence which suggests that there is a gap in service provision for this transitional age group.

The service offers a wide range of tailored interventions for young adults aged 17 to 25, who may need help with a range of issues such as involvement in the criminal justice system and/or problems with drugs and alcohol. Support includes mental health and psychology awareness, the opportunity to be matched with a Sova mentor, recreational activities such as sport and social trips, and referrals to employment, training and educational providers.

The service is open from 9am- 5pm Monday to Friday, with one late night opening a week. Service users can also meet staff at alternative locations if this is more convenient.

Peter Merrifield, Project Manager said: “We are really excited to launch our new transitional service for 17-25 year olds. We offer a much-needed service that will empower young people to make positive changes in their lives, with the overall aims of reducing the need for referrals to adult services and the likelihood of young people entering the criminal justice system.”

Once fully established, the Service hopes to create new partnerships, which can broaden its reach into the local community.
