Reach Recovery Service, Southwark
About the service
Reach Recovery Service offers support to any Southwark resident, 18 years and over, who is worried about their drug use. We run a flexible ‘pick & mix’ service, offering a range of one-to-one sessions and workshops. You can choose whichever sessions interest you and can attend from between two and 12 hours per week.
We take into consideration all the factors that may make a person reluctant to seek help or advice, including those who :
- have children and may have social services involvement.
- have mental health issues alongside their substance misuse problems
- due to their substance misuse are involved with the criminal justice system.
Service users will have opportunity to meet with experienced drug & alcohol workers who can offer support , advice and counseling. The service is non judgmental, discreet, confidential and free, empowering people to find workable solutions and develop plans to manage their problems.
What we do and how we do it

Monday - Friday - 9am - 5pm
Our groups include:
Monday 11.30am-12.30pm -Open Group:this is the first group of the week and anyone can attend at any stage of the programme. It is an open forum where people can discuss any issues that are troubling them. This group is not as structured as the others and is a good way of exploring any personal issues you may have that are helping or hindering your recovery. Guest speakers from other services within Southwark also come along to let you know what support they can offer and answer any questions.
Monday 1 - 3pm -Drugs & You: this group will help you learn more about the physical and psychological effects of drugs, and explore the nature of addiction and what it means for you.
Tuesday 11am -12.30pm -Activities Group: this is a ‘rolling’ group which gives you and other service users the opportunity to socialise and interact in a productive way. Our activities include art therapy, outdoor fitness, gardening and trips. These activities provide a space away from the therapeutic groups and are an opportunity to have some fun.
Tuesday 1 -2.30 pm -Cannabis Group: the Cannabis Group is a 10-week programme that takes place on a Tuesday afternoon. This group will help you understand the extent to which Cannabis may be affecting your mental wellbeing, motivation, relationships and your plans and ideas for the future.
Wednesday 1 - 3pm-Change & Recovery: as the title says, this is the group where you can explore your individual recovery; you can think about what recovery means for you and how you will prepare yourself for change.
Friday 11am -1pm -Take Control & Manage Relapse: with the knowledge of how you want to manage your recovery, this group will help you to take control and manage those areas that could affect your recovery goals.
