The Corner is Sheffield's young people's substance misuse service.

What we do and how we do it
We work with any young people between the ages of 8 and 18 who live in Sheffield.
Central to everything we do is that we are young person-centred, meaning that the support we provide is led by the needs of young people and change is not imposed upon them. We aim to provide the support, education and personal resources to enable young people to make sustained and lasting change.
We offer full assessment and treatment for substance misuse problems. This is done through:
- One-to-one young person-centred interventions which promote positive change. This can include advice and information on drugs, harm reduction and structured psychosocial sessions.
- Group work sessions for young people, which provide education and advice to prevent and reduce the harms of drugs and alcohol. These sessions are run across the city in a wide range of venues and are tailored to suit the needs of each client group. Call us to request a group work request form.
- Training courses for professionals working with young people in Sheffield. These are available free of charge to anyone supporting young people in our city. We have a rolling programme of training days and we can also provide in-house training tailored to the needs of each organisation. Call us to find out more and to book either of these training options.
We offer a flexible, non-judgmental, confidential and accessible service. We accept telephone referrals from young people, family members/concerned others and professionals. We are happy to offer support at our operating bases (the Corner, Community Youth Teams and Youth Justice Service), at a young person's home or any other suitable venue.
We have a prescribing service and we offer prescribing treatment to young people where required as part of their treatment plan. We also offer a needle exchange service and harm reduction advice to young people who are injecting drugs.
We participate in Sheffield's C-Card scheme so we offer sexual health advice and free condoms to participating young people.
We offer telephone advice and information to young people, their families and workers. Call for more information or visit us at our drop-in: Monday to Friday, 1pm - 5pm.

Make a referral
We receive referrals from anyone wanting to refer a young person for our support, including young people referring themselves.
Young people can be referred in two ways:
- By their Community Youth Team or Youth Justice Service worker (speak to them to ask for a referral to be made)
- By directly contacting the Corner to arrange an appointment on 0114 275 2051, or requesting a referral form at thecorner.sheffield@cri.org.uk
If you contact us to refer a young person, or you refer yourself, we will need to take some personal information to help clarify whether we are the best place for you to receive support, and whether you might also benefit from the support offered by the Community Youth Team.
Can’t attend your appointment?
If you’re a young person and you're unable to attend your appointment, and you already have an allocated worker, please contact the worker direct to inform them.
If you don’t have an allocated worker then please contact the Corner direct to let the team know on 0114 275 2051.

We are found on Division Street, opposite Plantology and next door to Westfield Health and Moonko.
We are a 10-15 minute walk from the train station. Division Street runs parallel to West Street on which is situated West Street tram stop and multiple bus stops.
We don’t have our own car park but there is pay and display parking on the road behind the office as well of ample other parking throughout the city centre.
Please ring the buzzer on the front door and you will be let in and someone will come and meet you in the reception area.
If you require call back then please just say when someone answers the phone and we’ll be happy to call you back.
If you call outside of office hours, please leave a message and someone will call you back at the earliest opportunity.
The Corner is open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
We have a drop in service between 1-5pm Monday to Friday when a member of the team will be available to speak with you to provide advice, support or signposting as required.
If you drop by outside of these times or, if for some reason no one is available during the drop in times, we will make an appointment for you to be seen by someone at the next available opportunity.
The office is also used by some partner agencies for meetings and interventions, some of which operate outside of these core hours.
