An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gateshead Integrated Drug and Alcohol Service as Harm Minimisation project worker. Gateshead Evolve is an integrated end-to-end treatment and recovery service which offers a wide range of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions to Gateshead residents 18 years and over, their families and significant others who are experiencing issues with drugs and/or alcohol use.
As directed by the Lead Nurse the post-holder will be an integral member of a specialist team who will deliver comprehensive Tier 3 advice, information and support intervention services to problematic drug users across Gateshead. The contract will be delivered from a number of multi-agency services bases across Gateshead.
The post holder will be solely responsible for the provision of needle and syringe exchange programme within the hub and provide consistent support to the eight satellite needle exchange pharmacies, in line with NICE guidelines offering harm minimisation advice and to promote and encourage engagement with Gateshead Evolve.
The post-holder will facilitate the engagement and basic health assessment of clients through the provision of open access, brief one to one interventions and referral in to clinical treatment. Services will operate alongside the provision of primary health care screening and BBV vaccination services delivered in partnership with the local NHS Trust.
The post-holder will contribute to the service to ensure that substance users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards. You will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. You will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.
To adhere to CRI’s protocols/policies/procedures to ensure effective service delivery.
You will be required to work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may include some evening and weekend working.
You will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.
