Warrington Prisons Pathways to Recovery
The Warrington Prisons Pathways to Recovery supports service users to tackle their drug and alcohol use, stop reoffending and lead healthier lives, both within and beyond prison.
We deliver structured treatment through the innovative Foundations to Recovery program, which addresses substance misuse and its links to repeat offending and helps build recovery capital.
The team includes a specialist family worker who addresses the impact of imprisonment and offending on family relationships, as well as peer mentors with personal experience of achieving recovery with Pathways' support. We also have a bridging working who supports the transition of those coming in and out of custody with an emphasis on Mutual aid.
Peer mentors are trained to diploma level utilizing our dedicated Peer mentor and Volunteer coordinator. Peers support and motivate fellow prisoners who are working towards recovery. They are a vital element of the recovery program providing motivation and a role model that demonstrates recovery is an achievable goal.
Peer mentors can listen and share their experiences as well as providing practical advice around harm minimization and relapse prevention. They provide particularly valuable support for new prisoners in the welcome centre and help prepare prisoners for release by providing information about services out in the community.
We are also proud to have a dedicated recovery unit, which supports like minded men who want, or are in recovery to live together with support not only from the pathways team but the wider prison regime and partners.
We are fortunate to have no criteria that excludes individuals from working with us, if you want to change and you are resident in our prison we can work together.
