About the service

Inspire at HMP Lancaster Farms provides quick access to assessment and recovery orientated treatment options, for prisoners who have problems with drugs and/or alcohol. Our aim is to promote Recovery from addiction. We support prisoners to make positive changes to their lives and be in the best possible position for continued recovery in the community upon release

Our Foundations of Recovery & Pillars of Recovery Programme provide a positive and an affirming environment, where prisoners can work together to generate hope and aspiration, develop motivation and create opportunities to make profound, positive and enduring lifestyle changes.

The team includes Recovery Champions and Peer Mentors who are active in their own recovery, working alongside individuals and their families, sharing their experience, expertise and stories to benefit others earlier on in their recovery journey. We connect prisoners with recovery coaches on the outside and recovering communities during and post release. This in turn provides a seamless transition between the two by creating the bridge to recovery communities. Once released from HMP Lancaster Farms individuals have the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills gained through working with Inspire, to continue on their recovery journey at their home address with the goal for them to achieve, maintain and sustain long term recovery.

What we do and how we do it

The Inspire team at Lancaster Farms offer a full range of clinical and psycho-social interventions to assist prisoners on their recovery journey. This includes; one to one and group working, programmes, counselling, mutual aid, peer mentoring along with the opportunity to gain educational qualifications recognised in the community.
